The formation of a community, particularly an educational community, requires a commitment to truth (veritas) that will give identity and unity to the group. Veritas Academy believes that theological truth undergirds the educational mission and task of training children. Veritas Academy confesses a Protestant theological worldview that is rooted in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and is reflected in the ancient and historical creeds of the church. The following truths are foundational to the work of Veritas Academy and form the basis for our teaching and philosophy of education.
We believe there is but one and only one living and true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, in His incarnate Diety, in His sinless life, in His atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, who, by the work of grace, regenerates lost mankind and transforms believers into the image of Christ.
We believe that the Scriptures, as written in the Old and New Testaments, are the only infallible, authoritative, and sufficient Word of God.
We believe that God is the creator of all things and that He created mankind in His image as male and female.
We believe that sin entered the human race through the disobedience of Adam, the representative head of humanity, and that all people are born in a state of original sin. They are by nature alienated from the life of God and without salvation apart from the grace of God that restores them to life.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of mankind; that salvation has been accomplished through His death and resurrection; and that people are justified by grace through faith alone in His finished work, which results in imputed righteousness.
We believe that the chief end of mankind is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
